COSTA BLANCA
For many people, their choice comes right down to a straight comparison between the Costa Blanca and the Costa del Sol. Below, are some of the reasons given by buyers preferring the Costa Blanca.
Coastline The coastline between Altea and Denia is undoubtedly one of the most dramatic and picturesque in Southern Spain.
Sea Temperature Much warmer than the Costa del Sol which is cooled by the Atlantic sea. The beaches are amongst the best in Spain hence its name The White Coast. A large number of the beaches have been awarded EC Blue Flag status for their cleanliness. Sailing enthusiasts will be interested to learn that Moraira has one the most beautiful marinas in the Costa Blanca.
Investment Property on the Costa Blanca has far better long-term capital appreciation potential, as demand and prices are peaking in the Costa del Sol. NB. This applies to the Costa Blanca, North of Alicante.
Less Developed The quality of life is considerably higher in the Costa Blanca as mass tourism and busy traffic tends to be confined to the Costas del Sol and Brava. The Coast and countryside is extraordinarily beautiful, particularly in the Northern part of the Costa Blanca between Altea and Denia: dramatic mountains merge gently with green hills rich in pines, olives, almonds, vines and orange groves. Moraira, Javea, Denia and parts of Calpe are in a conservation zone where building height and density are strictly controlled. Amongst the scenic rural surroundings nestle several golf courses, towns and beautiful villages providing excellent facilities for modern day living.
Cost of living Considerably less than in the Costa del Sol.
Property prices Comparing like with like, prices are less than half that of the Costa del Sol.
Communications The area is served by both Alicante and Valencia airports – either of which are under 1 hours drive to Moraira, Calpe and Javea. The motorway extends all along the Costa Blanca and runs through to Northern Europe. Moraira to Calais is a mere 18 hours drive.
Climate Much is written about the superb climate of the Costa Blanca. Generally speaking, the summers are slightly cooler and less humid than the Costa del Sol, with the winters drier, less windy and sunnier. In fact, the has proclaimed that the Moraira, Javea and Denia peninsula of the Costa Blanca has "one of the most environmentally perfect climates in the world". This statement from the World Health Organisation does not apply to Torrevieja as is often claimed
